Which Size Pattern?

Just when I think I've got fitting issues handled they pull me back in!

I tweaked my Vogue 8151 T-shirt by scooping out the armscye, which led to a corresponding alteration on the sleeve head, which I guess was the right thing to do. The chest fit somewhat better, but it really feels over-fitted and now there's a bunch of material underneath the arm. So I looked at the pattern sizing, consulted Fit for Real People and have come to the conclusion that I need to go down one more size in order to properly fit my shoulders, upper chest and back. This means that, based on my upper bust measurement of 36" I should cut a size 14 Misses and make the following alterations:

  • Sloped shoulder 1/2"
  • Full bust adjustment to add 2 1/2" (total of 5" across the front)
  • Add sleeve width as needed to accommodate my 13" bicep
  • Add to waist and hips if the 5" added from the FBA isn't enough
  • Swayback adjustment as needed

Sigh.......here we go again!

Cozy Purple Pop of Color

Cozy purple throws for snuggling!  Adds some color  to the living room.  Thick fleece trimmed straight with rounded corners.  I tried some overcast stitches with my Juki however I couldn't get the look I wanted so I pulled out my serger. Gosh it's been, like 2 years since I used it but luckily it worked (I've had it for quite awhile but I'm still kinda afraid of it 😜).

Crafty Stirrings

My sewing stuff has been packed up for quite awhile and I miss it! It was packed up to make room for a season of extended visits by family which we have truly enjoyed so it was a worthy trade-off. Family visits will be done in a few weeks and in the meantime we decided that we'll be moving into a different house a few weeks later, so my sewing and craft things (other than sewing-related stuff I have just a few jewelry-making and scrap-booking supplies) will remain packed until it's arranged in our new abode. Focusing on family and transition decisions has taken up my mental space so it's just now, as I begin creating the vision of our next home I'm looking forward to having a sewing space again.
