No Sew

No sewing has happened for weeks at my house. Why not? I'm trying to figure it out.

First off, Dh & I radically changed our eating habits by giving up sugar & refined frankenfood. It's not the first time we've done that, but this time it's do or die (and I mean that literally, what with the high blood pressure and all). A body can only handle so much change at once, plus it takes time to shop for and prepare actual, real, true fresh food. It's worth it, though; we feel great and are losing weight, but I haven't got any sewing done.

Just when I started getting used to our new eating habits & thought I might get my sewing groove back we noticed that house prices in our neck of the woods have stopped going up; indeed we are now seeing such phrases as, "price reduced" and "motivated seller" in the local real estate ads. So we're checking out the housing market. Going to open houses affects my sewing time! Plus, if we do buy a house it would be a 3-bedroom and guess what that 3rd bedroom will be? That's right! A SEWING ROOM! And a guest room. So you can imagine how much work it is to keep from going off into sewing room fantasyland when we haven't even got our pre-approval letter from the lender.

And then, the thought of the possibility of moving has both dh & me in an organizing mode so I find myself decluttering and organizing instead of sewing.

Well, all in God's time. Whether we move or not, I'll be sewing again very soon.

I So Want to Sew

The pattern is cut out and pressed, the cutting mat is laid out on the table, and pre-washed fabric calls out to me. What is missing? TIME, that's what! And if there's a little time to be had there has been NO ENERGY left to git 'r done. But things are picking up and I hope to have 4 dark blue knit work shirts made this weekend for dh. I just bought him a coupla pair of olive green 'Big Daddy Cargo Pants' at Penneys. Finding work pants for Dh that fit, are comfortable and don't rip the first day on the job has been an adventure. These pants look great on him and they are stretch twill! Yay! I had picked up some black and brick-colored knit collars at The Place That Sells Sewing Machines but now I have olive-colored pants...what to do? Here's what: I'm going to try and find matching olive knit or woven material to use on the work shirt placket and (maybe) collar! How coordinated he will be! Oddly, dh doesn't seem as excited about this as I am....

Print Fabric Possibility

Print fabrics are hard for me. I'm afraid they look busy and accenuate curves that are plenty accentuated without any extra help. But since my wardrobe plan calls for a print I've been looking around and I found this one at Vogue Fabrics . It has black, gray, charcoal, pink and purple. I could sure work with it. It's priced right, too--56" wide @ $6.99/yd.
