Project Runway Got Me Sewing Again

Up until recently, I could take Project Runway or leave it. I'm not a particular fan of reality shows, although I have been known to plan my evenings around episodes of Dancing with the Stars. But Manolo offers amusing Project Runway commentary, so when I was flipping through channels and saw the show, that's where I landed. And boy, am I glad I did. I had been in a sewing lull, you see, with several garments cut out and waiting, as well as 2 cotton french-cuff blouses in process and I had had to actually force myself to sew because dang it, I need the clothes! But what's this? Grown people, interesting people, with artistic talent, actually sewing? On television? Actually making clothes? Why, how delightful! How inspiring! It made me want to sew again! And I did! One of the shirts is finished and looks really good. The other is 2/3 done and then I will start on the coordinating pants that are already cut out.

And as a special bonus, Kathy Griffin the D-List was on after Project Runway. And as an extra-special bonus, there's a Project Runway marathon this Saturday!

Crafty Stirrings

My sewing stuff has been packed up for quite awhile and I miss it! It was packed up to make room for a season of extended visits by family which we have truly enjoyed so it was a worthy trade-off. Family visits will be done in a few weeks and in the meantime we decided that we'll be moving into a different house a few weeks later, so my sewing and craft things (other than sewing-related stuff I have just a few jewelry-making and scrap-booking supplies) will remain packed until it's arranged in our new abode. Focusing on family and transition decisions has taken up my mental space so it's just now, as I begin creating the vision of our next home I'm looking forward to having a sewing space again.

Cozy Purple Pop of Color

Cozy purple throws for snuggling!  Adds some color  to the living room.  Thick fleece trimmed straight with rounded corners.  I tried some overcast stitches with my Juki however I couldn't get the look I wanted so I pulled out my serger. Gosh it's been, like 2 years since I used it but luckily it worked (I've had it for quite awhile but I'm still kinda afraid of it 😜).
