Wardrobe Notes

Using the Timmel Fabrics article as wardrobe plan inspiration, here is the start of my wardrobe plan.

Stage one - Make 11 garments:
2 pairs of pants (Unique slacks pattern)
2 skirts, one in a solid color, one in a print or check (Not sure which pattern)
2 simple tops, one solid, one in the above print (Butterick/Unique v-neck t-shirt)
4 tops, in colors which coordinate with the solids (Butterick/Unique B4609)
1 simple cardigan jacket in a solid color (Unique princess-seam jacket)

According to this article, which describes a plan shown in Australian Stitches magazine, one would start by choosing 2 basic colors, then add a third complementary color, and make sure the print has the two basic colors in it.

I think I will make the cardigan jacket in one of the basic (neutral) colors and make a 12th basic garment:
1 basic jacket in the 2nd solid color (McCalls/Unique M4930)

Wow! I didn't realize 'til I wrote it down, but I have almost all the patterns I need.

As to colors, one of my basics is gray. I had thought the 2nd basic neutral might be navy blue, but now I think it may be black. I am trying to get away from the harshness of black, but it's such an easy to find staple that I think I'll stick with it. I can always bring in the navy blue at a later stage. Since my 2 neutrals are Gray and black, that 3rd complementary color has to brighten things up. I love purple and red, but do they love me? Fuschia gets me compliments. Clear cool colors seem to work for me. Hmmmm....I'm thinking pink.

Cozy Purple Pop of Color

Cozy purple throws for snuggling!  Adds some color  to the living room.  Thick fleece trimmed straight with rounded corners.  I tried some overcast stitches with my Juki however I couldn't get the look I wanted so I pulled out my serger. Gosh it's been, like 2 years since I used it but luckily it worked (I've had it for quite awhile but I'm still kinda afraid of it 😜).

Crafty Stirrings

My sewing stuff has been packed up for quite awhile and I miss it! It was packed up to make room for a season of extended visits by family which we have truly enjoyed so it was a worthy trade-off. Family visits will be done in a few weeks and in the meantime we decided that we'll be moving into a different house a few weeks later, so my sewing and craft things (other than sewing-related stuff I have just a few jewelry-making and scrap-booking supplies) will remain packed until it's arranged in our new abode. Focusing on family and transition decisions has taken up my mental space so it's just now, as I begin creating the vision of our next home I'm looking forward to having a sewing space again.
