Fit Fit Fit

Shapely shirt turned out sort of wearable. The cotton/lycra blend is too stiff and thick so it's a bit buggy to wear (as in, "it bugs me"--this was my little sister's mantra from the time she was about 5 years old. She had some cute clothes she wouldn't wear because they bugged her. She is still unbelieveably picky about how she feels in the clothes she wears. I understand. I'm the same way.) Also, because it has no drape darts are way too pointy.

And there's some stand-up collar/shoulder thing happening here, too. If the fabric weren't so stiff it'd be falling down my back and REALLY bugging me.

I sewed enough of the click 'n sew blouse together to know that it's (another) wadder. In order to get this fit thing straightened out once and for all, I'm starting from square one. I've got a fitting shell pattern and Fit for Real People and I'm going to follow all of the steps to make a fitting shell.

Cozy Purple Pop of Color

Cozy purple throws for snuggling!  Adds some color  to the living room.  Thick fleece trimmed straight with rounded corners.  I tried some overcast stitches with my Juki however I couldn't get the look I wanted so I pulled out my serger. Gosh it's been, like 2 years since I used it but luckily it worked (I've had it for quite awhile but I'm still kinda afraid of it 😜).

Crafty Stirrings

My sewing stuff has been packed up for quite awhile and I miss it! It was packed up to make room for a season of extended visits by family which we have truly enjoyed so it was a worthy trade-off. Family visits will be done in a few weeks and in the meantime we decided that we'll be moving into a different house a few weeks later, so my sewing and craft things (other than sewing-related stuff I have just a few jewelry-making and scrap-booking supplies) will remain packed until it's arranged in our new abode. Focusing on family and transition decisions has taken up my mental space so it's just now, as I begin creating the vision of our next home I'm looking forward to having a sewing space again.
