A Lot Going On

I've got a lot of projects going at once--something I don't ordinarily do 'cause things get mixed up. In the hopper, or just out:

Unique jacket in poly/rayon pinstripe is all cut out (and I really need clothes!) but I interupted it for...

Scalloped apron, which is 1/2 finished and looking cuter everyday. I thought it would be a quick project--maybe 2 evenings, but noooooooo! It's been about a week now, and still not done. But getting there.

2 flannel blankets for the grandbaby--these really were quick; both are finished and were wrapped around the baby, who pooped all over his clothes and needed both blankies to keep warm on the way home since all he had on was a diaper and it's been raining cats and dogs for days now.

Black sweater, which I cut out months ago and haven't sewed up yet. Probably because I have about 3 black sweaters already. But I was given this sweater knit from a sister sewist and I want to try sewing with it. Plus it's a v-neck, which I like.

Black pinstripe pants--of all things, I need pants almost the most. Got the material, got the pattern, got a few alterations to make, then I can cut & sew

Lavender silk noil shirt--it's just hanging there mocking me: "Hem me! Give me buttons and buttonholes! I would be perfect to wear to church on Easter Sunday!"

Lastly, not cut out, but just in my head, I've got some lavender print broomstick material that might go with the lavender shirt, and if it did, wouldn't it be nice to whip up a skirt for Easter? Never mind that Easter is only 4 days away, and I have worship practice tonight and Planning Commission tomorrow night. It could happen!

Crafty Stirrings

My sewing stuff has been packed up for quite awhile and I miss it! It was packed up to make room for a season of extended visits by family which we have truly enjoyed so it was a worthy trade-off. Family visits will be done in a few weeks and in the meantime we decided that we'll be moving into a different house a few weeks later, so my sewing and craft things (other than sewing-related stuff I have just a few jewelry-making and scrap-booking supplies) will remain packed until it's arranged in our new abode. Focusing on family and transition decisions has taken up my mental space so it's just now, as I begin creating the vision of our next home I'm looking forward to having a sewing space again.

You Were Born in California and Have Never Been to Yosemite?

Until 2 days ago, I would have had to answer, "Nope, never been there." But now I can proudly say, "I have been to Yosemite. I have seen the highest waterfall in the United States, El Capitan, and Half Dome." We joined my brother Bobby and sister-in-law Dee Dee, along with nephew Jeremy, neice Sierra and her hubby Josiah and their little girls Havilah and Gigi for a whirlwind of a weekend that managed to be both exciting and relaxing. On Saturday Bobby & Dee Dee took us on a one-day tour of Yosemite (more pics in the Gallery ). The scenery was tremendous. If there's this much natural beauty just 4 hours from where I live, what wonders must heaven hold? I really enjoyed seeing the families from all over the world. Saturday night Darren & I saw the Eagles at Calaveras County fairgrounds. Great concert. Sunday we kicked back. We did not get enough of Yosemite though and may return this winter.
