Bum Ruffles, Anyone?

Sonia Rose's dress is needing only 3 rows of lavender chiffon bum ruffles to be complete. I believe that the length will be just about right, but it may be too big around. I'll know for sure when she gets here in just 2 more days!

Tomorrow I will be edging 5 white chiffon rectangles to be used as wraps by the bridesmaids. I found a great stitch on my serger--a 3-thread picot edge. It works great. I wished I'd seen that page in my serger workbook when I was hemming Kim's bridal veil.

I've been working on a slideshow for the wedding reception--it also is almost complete. I'm waiting for a few more pictures to arrive. I've borrowed I-don't-want-to-know-how-many-thousands-of-dollars worth of projection equipment from a wonderful, generous and marvelously technically savvy couple from our church. I've had a rehearsal with it & it all seems to work fine. A full dress rehearsal including completed slideshow, laptop, projector, speakers and screen will take place on Tuesday or Wednesday. It's a terrific show, if I do say so myself. I'm looking forward to seeing it on the big screen.

Crafty Stirrings

My sewing stuff has been packed up for quite awhile and I miss it! It was packed up to make room for a season of extended visits by family which we have truly enjoyed so it was a worthy trade-off. Family visits will be done in a few weeks and in the meantime we decided that we'll be moving into a different house a few weeks later, so my sewing and craft things (other than sewing-related stuff I have just a few jewelry-making and scrap-booking supplies) will remain packed until it's arranged in our new abode. Focusing on family and transition decisions has taken up my mental space so it's just now, as I begin creating the vision of our next home I'm looking forward to having a sewing space again.

You Were Born in California and Have Never Been to Yosemite?

Until 2 days ago, I would have had to answer, "Nope, never been there." But now I can proudly say, "I have been to Yosemite. I have seen the highest waterfall in the United States, El Capitan, and Half Dome." We joined my brother Bobby and sister-in-law Dee Dee, along with nephew Jeremy, neice Sierra and her hubby Josiah and their little girls Havilah and Gigi for a whirlwind of a weekend that managed to be both exciting and relaxing. On Saturday Bobby & Dee Dee took us on a one-day tour of Yosemite (more pics in the Gallery ). The scenery was tremendous. If there's this much natural beauty just 4 hours from where I live, what wonders must heaven hold? I really enjoyed seeing the families from all over the world. Saturday night Darren & I saw the Eagles at Calaveras County fairgrounds. Great concert. Sunday we kicked back. We did not get enough of Yosemite though and may return this winter.
